Study Tips from the Education Team

Take a look at our top tips for student that will enhance your learning style and help you reach your educational goals.

Study isn’t just for the night before an assignment’s due or the night before an exam. If you do find yourself cramming the night before perhaps it’s time to follow a new study routine, one that helps you manage your time and improve your concentration.

Plan a Revision Schedule

Organisation is the key when studying. Creating (and sticking) to a timetable is important whether one day you are quizzing yourself on different breeds, and the next you are revising health and safety. Remember it’s all about quality, not quantity!

Struggling with remembering certain breeds or techniques? Why not print off a picture of these breeds write the names on the back, then, ask a family member or friend to quiz you. With this technique, you’ll remember more and more in no time!

Take Breaks

It’s important to take your mind away from your studies every so often and centre yourself, did you know working too long on a particular task can actually decrease your performance? Why not follow the Pomodoro technique? For every twenty five-minutes that you study you get a five-minute break!

Always ask for help if needed

If the stress of your studies is becoming too much remember to speak with your family, or your friends. If you don’t understand something then speak to your lecturer or teacher and ask for clarification, don’t forget there are also your fellow students too!

Rewrite your notes

If your note-taking is anything like mine then its covered in scribbles and doodles… so why not take the time to rewrite your notes and go over everything that you covered in your lesson once again. It’s a great refresh on the content that you have already covered.

App it

There are hundreds of apps out there for your phone designed to help students with all elements of study. Ask your teacher, they might have some recommendations for you!

Avoid cramming

Studying too much, too late, will not help with the final exam – relax, take it slow, and don’t leave it until the last minute. This will help you feel calmer on approach to the final exam.

Whatever strategy you come up with, when you find something that works for you, put it into practise and go for it! To all of our customers studying, good luck from the Groomers Team!
