Scheduled for this Saturday 22nd June is International Helmet Awareness Day 2013. Building on the success of previous years’ events, International Helmet Awareness Day highlights the importance of on-going safety education for equestrians, with a particular focus on the importance of wearing a secure, well-fitted and certified riding helmet.
This year’s Derby Day on June 1st marks the centenary of a particularly noteworthy event in the Derby’s history. On June 4th 1913, suffragette Emily Davison ran out to the course at Tattenham Corner and bought down King George V’s horse Anmer. The incident, considered a form of direct action on behalf of the Votes for Women movement, created a martyr of Davison after her death on June 8th from resultant injuries.
Last week we went to London with Valentino VII to compete in The Andrews Bowen Under 18's British Show Jumping Competition at Horse World Live, held at the ExCel Arena. After qualifying competitions at Scope the top riders, based on points and performance from the UK and Europe, were invited by British Show Jumping to compete in this brand new competition aimed at supporting the best young names in show jumping.

Hosted at the vast indoor exhibition space at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, Your Horse Live is an equine extravaganza, offering everything you could ever need for you and your horse.
Great Britain’s riders have obtained two more medals, this time in the dressage competition. Charlotte Dujardin took gold scoring an incredible 90.089, an Olympic record. Riding once again on Valegro, the two performed to patriotic themes including music from The Great Escape, and “Land of Hope and Glory”.
Great Britain’s riders have obtained another gold medal, this time in the team dressage competition. They achieved the medal after attaining an excellent average team score of 79.979. They beat the defending champions Germany, who came second, and the Netherlands, who took bronze.
