British Dog Grooming Championship: Key Information for Competitors and Visitors

 

The 2013 British Dog Grooming Championship is just around the corner, and its organisers are hoping for an even bigger event this year, with over 120 competitors and a larger new venue. This year’s competition takes place at Bingley Hall at the Staffordshire County Showground on Sunday 6th October, and the event will also for the first time incorporate an exciting family dog day running parallel to the competition entitled “Paws” at Bingley.

Info for Competitors

Competitors can still enter for Groomer of the Year until Friday 27th September. Priced at £15 for BDGA members and £30 for non-BDGA members, access all areas competitor tickets are available now online. There is a total prize fund of £4000, with £1500 allotted for Groomer of the Year.

Competitor Groups are as follows:

  • Student and newcomer for anyone who is enrolled on a grooming course or has been grooming professionally for 18 months or less
  • Experienced for those who have been grooming for at least 18 month but have never won a national dog grooming competition
  • Advanced for previous winners of a national dog grooming competition

As well as the professional grooming competition, there will be two junior competitions for 6 – 16 year olds, along with an on-site scissor sharpening service, and plenty of seminars offering a chance to acquire some new skills. There will even be the opportunity for competitors to go to Intergroom USA!

Info for Visitors/Spectators

There will also be plenty for spectators to do at this year’s British Dog Groom Championships. As well as watching Groomer of the Year, the Paws at Bingley event will have dog displays, trade exhibitions, talks on doggie topics and a companion dog show. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and there will even be the opportunity for your dog to have a health MOT from the PDSA. Tickets for non-groomers are available online or on the door. Adult tickets are priced at £10, child ticket are £5 and under 5s go free. You can also get 10% off the ticket cost price if you buy in advance online.
