Product Profile: The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is completely natural product, resulting from the fermentation of apples. It contains much of the goodness of apples in their natural state, combined with additional acids and enzymes produced by the fermentation process.

To make cider vinegar, the apples are simply crushed, then yeast and sugar is added to start the fermentation process. Apple cider vinegar actually goes through the fermentation process twice, and is typically left unfiltered, giving the product a cloudy appearance.

The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains high levels of acetic acid, and is rich in natural minerals, vitamins, trace elements and enzymes, including potassium, calcium, silicon, iron and copper.

The combination of these elements has proven benefits for canine skin health. Studies have shown it to have a beneficial effect on itchy, flaky skin, and could help skin that suffers from allergies.  It also has antibacterial, anti-fungal and insect repellent qualities, meaning it can help reduce the spread of odour causing bacteria and deter fleas and ticks.

Apple cider vinegar is also known to be beneficial for coat health. Used as a rinse, apple cider vinegar helps remove dirt and any build-up of shampoos, conditioners and styling products from the hair shaft. It can also improve hair growth and even reduce dander.
