Groomers Team Riders – Abbie’s Horse World Live Diary

Horse World Live, London: 16th – 18th November 2012

Last week we went to London with Valentino VII to compete in The Andrews Bowen Under 18’s British Show Jumping Competition at Horse World Live, held at the ExCel Arena. After qualifying competitions at Scope the top riders, based on points and performance from the UK and Europe, were invited by British Show Jumping to compete in this brand new competition aimed at supporting the best young names in show jumping. We had a reception in the main hall the evening before hand, where I found out I would be 7th to jump on the Sunday, and we all got a numnah and grooming kit from the sponsors.
The class was at 1pm the next day, and when I went in there were no clears. Valentino and I were the first clear round, meaning we would go last in the Jump Off. Everyone was very quick and being last, I got to see what was being done by the other competitors. When my turn came around, we decided I should go for the win! Valentino and I went great over fences 1, 2 and 3, where I was about 4 seconds up, but from there things didn’t go to plan! So ultimately, we ended up 5th place; however, it was a great experience and a pleasure to be a part of. Tim Wilks won on Zucchini, with first place receiving £1000 and a training weekend courtesy of Laura & John Renwick.
