London 2012 Equestrian Update – Team GB Win Olympic Gold and Bronze

Great Britain’s riders have obtained two more medals, this time in the dressage competition. Charlotte Dujardin took gold scoring an incredible 90.089, an Olympic record. Riding once again on Valegro, the two performed to patriotic themes including music from The Great Escape, and “Land of Hope and Glory”.

Dujardin managed to beat a very respectable score from Dutch rider Adelinde Cornelissen, who scored 88.196 on Parzival. Laura Bechtolsheimer, team dressage member alongside Dujardin, took bronze, riding Mistral Hojris, managing a fine score of 84.339. Carl Hester, who was also part of the winning dressage team on Tuesday, scored a respectable 82.857 to come in 5th place.

These are Great Britain’s first ever individual Olympic dressage medals, and our second dressage gold in the games. Such unprecedented success may very well mark the beginning of a new era in British dressage.
