London 2012 Equestrian Update – Team GB Win Another Olympic Gold
Great Britain’s riders have obtained another gold medal, this time in the team dressage competition. They achieved the medal after attaining an excellent average team score of 79.979. They beat the defending champions Germany, who came second, and the Netherlands, who took bronze.
The team included Laura Bechtolsheimer on Mistral Hojris, Carl Hester on Uthopia, and Charlotte Dujardin on Valegro. The team have proved themselves an up-and-coming talent in the field of dressage – finishing fifth at the Beijing Olympics and first at last year’s European Championships.
This is Great Britain’s first dressage medal of any colour since the sport was first introduced to the Olympics at the 1912 games. The medal is Team GB’s 20 gold in the games so far, and is our third equestrian medal in the competition.
